About Us

A community library run by volunteers

Friends of Barham Library

Unit 4, 660 Harrow Road, Wembley, London, HA0 2HB

Friends of Barham Library is a registered charity (no. 1142113).
Our community library is based in the Barham Park building on the frontage to Harrow Road. It is run by volunteers and replaces the library closed by Brent Council in October 2011.
Our collection of books includes General Fiction and Sci-Fi/Fantasy (both collections searchable here), as well as Young Adult, Children's to Teens, and Non-fiction.

Other than our books, we have many activities going on and are open to offering up our space for one-off or regular events.
We also have a shop at Sudbury Underground Station (entrance from Station Approach), where we sell books, CD's, DVD's, records and other notable items.

The full address for the library is Unit 4, 660 Harrow Road Wembley HA0 2HB and buses 18, 92, 182, 204 and H17 stop nearby.

About the web app

This app was created by one of the volunteers at the library, built using Django, Python, Bootstrap, Postgres, some Javascript, and many other developer tools. The app is securely housed in a remote server provided by DigitalOcean. Book data has mainly been collected from Google Books, Goodreads and the excellent Libib web app. The only user data that is stored are account details, active reservations or reviews, or any books that have been 'liked'. If you want to discuss any aspect of the web app itself, please get in touch.
